PSB Wellness Committee Seeking a Hayes Volunteer

The PSB Wellness Committee is looking for new members, to ensure that we have parent representation from each school. We have representatives from various school departments (Guidance, Wellness, School health, Food Services, School Physician Consult, Substance Use Prevention, School Committee, Office of Student Services) Brookline Department of public health, etc.)

A Local Wellness Policy  is a written document created by the Wellness Committee which helps a school district establish an environment that prioritizes student health, well-being and ability to learn. A Local Educational Agency (LEA) enrolled in the National School Lunch Program and/or National School Breakfast Program is required by law to have a Local Wellness Policy.

The Code of Massachusetts Regulations (CMR) sets standards for the establishment and operation of School Wellness Advisory Committees. These committees are intended to ensure that each public school district has an established group of school staff and concerned community representatives to recommend, review and help implement school district policies addressing school nutrition, nutrition education, physical activity and related issues that affect student health.

PSB is fortunate to continue our collaboration with Christanne Harrison, a School Wellness Coach for the Massachusetts School Wellness Coaching Program: Implementing Initiatives for the 2024-2025 school year. This year we will work together to complete an assessment of the implementation of PSB's written wellness policy, identify priorities, and create action plans for implementation based on the assessment. This program includes 4 meetings together throughout the school year.
Our meetings are planned for 8:30-10:00 am
