Camp Kesem Supporting Children of Parents with Cancer
Posted: 3/20/2025 11:02 pm
We are Camp Kesem and we believe that all children facing a parent's cancer deserve to fully experience the joys of childhood and be their best selves. We offer an entirely free, one-week summer camp in the Berkshires as well as other year-round programming in the Boston area. We use the campsite of Camp Mahkeenac, which is on the shores of Stockbridge Bowl Lake in Lenox, MA. This summer, our camp runs from Sunday, August 11th to Friday, August 16th.
At camp, we have a week jam-packed with classic camp activities: campfires at night, lake activities, sports and crafts during the day. Moreover, for our campers aged 14-18, we have a 'Teen Leadership Program' that focuses on helping them acquire real-world interpersonal skills that they can take home with them on top of the fun summer camp memories. Passionate college students lead our community and, working alongside alumni and supporters, they create experiences and connections to help campers process, connect, heal and thrive. For many children and volunteers, Kesem is a life-changing experience that spans far beyond a week at summer camp.
Our 'Make the Magic' Gala is on Saturday, March 22nd from 6-9 PM in the Boston University Ballroom at 1 Silber Way. 'Make the Magic' is our largest fundraiser of the year, and it is aptly named, as it is a great opportunity to see the impact that we have on our campers and their families, and contribute to our mission. At the gala, you can expect to hear from speakers in the Kesem community, see performances from BU student groups and win exclusive items, among other things! The dress code is semi-formal and food will be provided at the gala. Tickets are available at this link!
