National Substance Use Prevention Month

October is National Substance Use Prevention Month, and B-PEN encourages you to safely dispose of unwanted medication and help prevent the opportunity for misuse before it starts. Too often patients are prescribed more prescription medication than needed; 70-80% of patients have leftover opioids after surgery, which are risky if they fall into the wrong hands, especially adolescents. Help prevent misuse by regularly and safely disposing of unwanted medications. In addition to the Brookline Public Safety Building, here’s a list of year-round places locally to safely return unused drugs.
