Open Space and Recreation Plan 2025 Newsletter

Invitation to Shape Brookline's 2025 Open Space and Recreation Plan

The Brookline Conservation Commission and Open Space Plan Committee extends a warm invitation to all community stakeholders to participate in shaping the 2025 Open Space and Recreation Plan. This vital document guides open space and recreation planning within our town and is mandated by the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEA). Every seven years, the Conservation Commission, alongside the Parks and Open Space Division, updates and oversees the implementation of this essential plan.

Join Us for Listening Sessions

We invite the community to engage in a series of three upcoming hybrid meetings designed to gather input, address concerns, and explore opportunities concerning parks, nature sanctuaries, and other open spaces in Brookline. Hybrid meetings provide both in-person and virtual attendance options to maximize community access and participation.

Meeting Schedule:

  • Monday, May 6, 7 PM: Town Hall, Room 111, 333 Washington St.
  • Thursday, May 16, 7 PM: Municipal Service Center, 870 Hammond Street
  • Thursday, May 23, 7 PM: Brookline Senior Center, 93 Winchester St.

For those unable to attend in person, we encourage joining via Zoom. Simply follow the registration links on the Open Space Plan webpage.

Your Voice Matters

Each meeting will commence with a brief introduction and informational session on the existing Open Space Plan, last published in 2018. Learn about its utility, purpose, and the necessity of updating. Subsequently, an open discussion will allow the Open Space Plan Committee to hear the community's desires, concerns, and ideas regarding the 2025 update.

Additionally, we urge residents to contribute their input through our community survey, accessible on the Open Space webpage or via this link: Community Survey.

Be a Part of Our Action Plan

The Open Space and Recreation Plan serves as a cornerstone resource for our community. Your input is invaluable in defining the goals and objectives of the Action Plan that will steer the Town's preservation and protection efforts for the next seven years.

Please note that the community survey will close at the end of May, so be sure to share your thoughts before then!
