Brookline Readers and Leaders, September 13, 2023 Brookline Readers and Leaders, September 13, 2023

This Wednesday, 9/13 at 7 PM, Margaret Eberhart, Principal of BEEP—the Brookline Early Education Program—will be our very special guest reader of the year. She will read Lena's Shoes Are Nervous by Keith Calabrese and Juana Medina. You are invited to listen or participate as we discover what we can do when we feel nervous about something new—like starting a new school year! All are welcome, every week.

The Brookline Readers & Leaders is a volunteer-led, weekly Zoom-based program that runs during the school year. Originally known as the Ruffin Ridley Readers & Leaders, started by the FRR Equity PAC in 2020, the Readers & Leaders mission is to share diverse stories and foster inclusive community in a way that inspires and equips students to make positive change in their worlds. Joined by volunteers and leaders from BEEP, Lawrence, and Lincoln, the Brookline Readers & Leaders formed in 2022. The 2023-2024 leadership team includes former and current parents, caregivers, and staff from BEEP, Hayes (Heath), Lawrence, Lincoln, Ridley, BHS, and the Public Library of Brookline, each of who are dedicated to promoting equity and inclusion in their own spheres.

We especially love having students, school staff, and community members as guests to highlight a diversity of interests, identities, and ways to make our worlds a better, kinder place. We consider this program and our "village" to include everyone who cares about the students who attend Brookline schools and hope to include the other 5 Brookline schools in our leadership over the next 1-2 years; please direct any interested individuals and ideas our way! We can be reached at BrooklineReadersLeaders@gmail.com.
