Find Your Voice -- Public Library of Brookline’s Summer Reading Program
Posted: 6/9/2023 2:35 pm
This year’s Public Library of Brookline’s Summer Reading Program is called Find Your Voice and is designed for everyone ages 0 and up.
Kids ages 0-9 or babies through kids entering grades K-4 are challenged to read 20 hours! Upon signing up and for every five hours they read, they will be able to spin our exciting prize wheels for things like stickers, buttons, books, and bookmarks. When they reach all 20 hours, they’ll also get a chance to contribute to our community art displays, which will be happening at all three library locations. Kids can log their reading on a paper log that they can pick up from any Library location, or by logging through our online reading tracker called Beanstack.
Tweens and teens ages 10-18 or entering grades 5-12 can earn spins on our prize wheel just by visiting the Library and checking out an item! Limited to one spin per person per day. Prizes range from buttons to books, to raffle ticket entries for gift cards to local businesses. The adult program will work in the exact same way as the tween and teen program, so it’s even easy for parents to participate!
The program will run from June 20 to August 19, but families can start signing up on June 12. They can sign up online themselves at brklib.com/beanstack or by coming to any Library location. We are having a Summer Reading Kickoff event at each location where we will also be signing people up for the program and giving out ice cream and popsicles! The events are: 2-4PM at our Brookline Village location on Saturday, June 24; 2:30-4PM at Coolidge Corner on Friday, June 23; and 3-5PM at Putterham on Wednesday, June 14. I’m also attaching flyers for this event and the entire program to this email in case that is helpful! For more info on all our programs, visit our events calendar at brklib.com/events.
The last Summer Reading service to highlight is our collection of PSB Summer Reading List titles! All of the titles on the K-12 Summer Reading Lists can be found through our online catalog at www.minlib.net and are a permanent collection in each Youth Services space at all three Library locations. Items in our permanent SR collection are only two week loans and are nonrenewable, but copies of the items are available from other libraries in the Minuteman Network as well.
Our staff here at the Library are here for all of your Summer Reading questions and more, so please don’t hesitate to reach out at 617-730-2340!
Thank you so much for reading, and happy Summer Reading season!
