Composting in Brookline
Posted: 2/10/2022 8:58 am
Brookline has begun lunchroom composting at BHS and Lincoln Elementary and, with time, all schools will be composting their cafeteria food waste. This effort diverts more than one ton each week from a polluting incinerator! Your child will soon be composting at school, so why not do it at home too? Composting is simple and can be done in your own backyard or with a composting company such as Black Earth Compost or Bootstrap Compost, that provides EASY curbside compost pickup on the same day that your trash/recycling gets picked up. The cost to you is minimal. The benefits to our children and town - and the planet - are immense. Contact Chaimaa Medhat (Asst. Recycling Coordinator for the Town) at cmedhat@brooklinema.gov for more information about school composting and/or to volunteer occasionally to help out with BHS's composting program.
