Composting in Brookline

Brookline has begun lunchroom composting at BHS and Lincoln Elementary and, with time, all schools will be composting their cafeteria food waste. This effort diverts more than one ton each week from a polluting incinerator! Your child will soon be composting at school, so why not do it at home too? Composting is simple and can be done in your own backyard or with a composting company such as Black Earth Compost or Bootstrap Compost, that provides EASY curbside compost pickup on the same day that your trash/recycling gets picked up. The cost to you is minimal. The benefits to our children and town - and the planet - are immense. Contact Chaimaa Medhat (Asst. Children's Beginner Fencing Classes at Harvard

Daria Schneider — the head coach of Harvard fencing and an alumna of Lawrence, BHS, and Columbia, in addition to being a freelance theatre troupe member at Heath back in the day — is starting a beginners fencing class for children ages 5-7 and 8-10 (group separated by age for skill instruction) at Harvard on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30.
