Brookline Teen Center Music Program

Nathaniel and Zack are two BHS graduates currently attending Berklee College of Music who have recently taken over responsibility of managing the music studio at the Brookline Teen Center. The studio is launching a new music program called Band Match where students who are interested in starting/joining a band can fill out a google form and will be matched into an ensemble based on their musical interests and abilities. B-PEN continues to hear that Brookline families are concerned about mental health these days, especially regarding our youth. And in fact, the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) have come together to declare a National State of Emergency in Children’s Mental Health, acknowledging the urgency of widespread challenges facing children and adolescents. Brookline Youth Lacrosse registration is now open for Spring 2022! The program begins in 1st grade for girls and kindergarten for boys. No prior experience is necessary. Public Hearing on Use of ESSER III Funding

The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) program provides funding to Local Educational Agencies like the Public Schools of Brookline (PSB). This funding is to address the impact of COVID-19 on elementary and secondary schools. ESSER III is the third allocation of funding disbursed through this program. PSB will receive a total of $3,667,338 from ESSER III, to be used by 09/30/2024. The Brookline School Committee and PSB Central Administration are committed to a public engagement process to hear from stakeholders including students, families, educators, staff, and community members on the most effective and efficient ways to invest these federal relief funds. The Brookline School Committee and PSB Central Administration are committed to a public engagement process to hear from stakeholders including students, families, educators, staff, and community members on the most effective and efficient ways to invest these federal relief funds. A hearing will be held via Zoom on October 21, 2021, at approximately 8:25 pm.
