End of Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be returning to the Hayes Library, during the week of October 28. It will be a lot of fun, just like every year!
Ms. Anderson, our school librarian, is looking for a few volunteers' help each day.
What do volunteers do?
On set-up day (Friday 25th October 11 a.m. ~1:30 p.m.): Moving tables, chairs, furniture, carts of books; putting out decorations and book displays; tidying and facing up stock; getting it ready for the afternoon staff preview. This is quite physical and can be hard work!
During Book Fair: Some times will be very busy and some will be quiet; assisting children with finding things, making choices, understanding their money (little ones will definitely come with a bag of pennies and have no idea what to do), understanding prices and how tax affects them, restocking, straightening up, monitoring etc. Ms. Anderson will do all the cash register / money business.
On shut-down day (Friday 1st November 11:30 a.m. ~1:30 p.m.): Packing it all up, moving boxes, furniture, chairs; resetting the library to normal. Like set-up, this is quite physical and a good workout! It goes much more quickly than set-up!
To sign up to volunteer, check out the Sign Up Genius. Hurry, spots are filling up!
